Apple Platform Engineering

The active core of my current work. Roughly a decade of Swift, several years of SwiftUI, deep familiarity with the Apple toolchain top to bottom.

  • Synodic Studio (Jan 2018 – present, self-employed). Shipped iOS apps DeskDays and Awesome Timer, web product Podcast Pusher, and Metal-powered macOS exhibit GravityWell running unattended in five science museum installations.
  • Workday (May 2023 – present). Sr Associate iOS Engineer (Nov 2024+) and Associate iOS Engineer prior. Swift, SwiftUI, and shared-module work on Workday’s enterprise mobile apps. Built the internal case for Claude Code adoption: demos, tooling proposals, direct advocacy to engineering leadership. Team-level traction; org-wide rollout stalled against procurement friction and institutional risk-aversion.
  • CU Boulder ATLAS Institute (Aug – Dec 2024, part-time). Lecturer for ATLS 4120 (iOS App Development). Curriculum, lectures, project-based assignments, undergraduate feedback.
  • Woodridge Software (May 2022 – May 2023). iOS Developer building SwiftUI applications for health and wellness products. Full-stack mobile from architecture through App Store deployment.

AI Tooling & Independent Studio

Most of the open-source work, all of the agentic-engineering experiments, and the headless-from-phone stack.

Scientific Computing & GPU Pipelines

Realtime image processing, physics-bearing data analysis, and GPU compute. The thread connecting GravityWell, Solmirus, NASA Ames, and the Boeing/Aerojet aerospace work.

  • GravityWell via Synodic Studio (2024 – present). Realtime image-processing pipeline on Metal compute shaders, custom luminance formulas tuned to the fluorescing ball colors, end-to-end GPU residency. Five museum installations, two-year+ unattended uptime. Engineering case study.
  • Solmirus Corporation (Nov 2020 – Feb 2022). Software Lead for astronomical-instrument data analysis and museum exhibits. Built an interactive exhibit in C++/openFrameworks with a camera SDK and GPU-based image processing. Direct domain ancestor of GravityWell.
  • NASA Ames Research Center (summer 2010). Aeroacoustics Intern at the National Full-Scale Aerodynamics Complex. Phased microphone array, hot-wire anemometry. AIAA/CEAS conference paper.
  • Aerojet Rocketdyne (Dec 2011 – Aug 2012). Systems Engineer (contract). Requirements management and verification for NASA’s Orion Jettison Motor. ITAR-controlled.
  • Boeing internships (2007, 2008, 2009). 737 Flight Test Engineering, C-17 Systems & Flight Controls, 777 Payloads & Structures.

Education & Science Communication

A through-line that runs from the Italy years to ATLAS today. The reason GravityWell is also a good museum exhibit, and the reason cover letters reliably land.

  • CU Boulder ATLAS Institute (Aug – Dec 2024). Lecturer for the iOS App Dev course.
  • LASP, CU Boulder (Aug 2017 – Jan 2019). Education and Public Outreach Specialist at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics. Translated active space-science research into curriculum and public talks.
  • CU Science Discovery (May – Jul 2017). Two 35-hour High Altitude Ballooning courses for high schoolers, plus two Python classes for middle schoolers.
  • Science Matters in America (Sep 2014 – Oct 2015). 60+ science shows to 2,500+ PK-6 students. After-school enrichment, long-term substitute teaching.
  • International School of Trieste (Aug 2012 – Jun 2014). Lead Teacher across physical science, computer science, and earth science. Two years living and working in Italy.

Regulated-Industry & Customer-Facing Engineering

The contract and customer-facing experience that informs forward-deployed work today.

  • Sandoz (Novartis) (Oct 2016 – Aug 2017). Data Analyst (contract). FDA verification reports for pharmaceutical manufacturing. Validated-system work.
  • Black Swift Technologies (Oct 2015 – Sep 2016). Lead Sales Engineer. Trained and supported customers on producing survey-grade digital elevation maps from drone data. Business development through the Business Model Canvas and customer discovery interviews.
  • Hemera Project Ltd. (Jan – May 2015, part-time). Head of Business Development for an early-stage solar-powered watch startup.
  • CreaTech Innovation LLC (2019 – 2020). Co-founder. Creative technology workshops and experiential events. Wound down during the pandemic.
